A tradegy occured in Bangladesh today that is fueled by our desire for cheap and frequent consumerist desires for clothing and fashion. We have a multi-billion dollar fashion industry that seeks wealth by having new trends annually. This results in waste and cheap, throwaway clothing trends. If they would be more responsible, and consumers were more informed or cared more about being humane than looking fashionable, things would change. I think getting the information out there and getting people to care is the first step.
My prayers go out to those who lost their lives and their families. It is humbling to know that we have so much more than others, but we must live in ways that is beneficial to others as well.
